Eat fish during pregnancy

Many of us think that eating seafood is harmful for our newborns and foetus. This is because many marine species may contain high levels of mercury. So many women who are pregnant refuse seafood altogether.

However, some recent studies in the US show that pregnant women should eat more fish since it's necessary for the brain development of their babies.

These studies come out from a non-profit group. They said that the real problem are the women who never eat fish. It's necessary for you to eat at least 12 ounces(about 340 grams) of fish per week. Omega-3 fatty acids which is mostly found in fish are necessary for brain development in your baby.

However, you may still worry about mercury and other toxins. The best course is to choose fish with the lowest levels of mercury, such as herring, salmon and sardines. You should try to avoid fish that contain high levels of mercury, such as swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish and shark.
